Mike
Hettwer
Mike Hettwer has been the photographer
on our last three dinosaur expeditions.
He and longtime PE supporter Glen Ostgaard
designed the high-speed satellite system
that is used to send hundreds of stories,
photos, and e-mails back to Project
Exploration and National Geographic
from the field.
Mike specializes in unique cultures
and getting difficult pictures. He
has photographed the Dogon in Mali,
hill tribes in Myanmar, Khmer villagers,
the Wodaabe in Niger and Sadhus in
Nepal and India. Other experiences
include being in car that rolled down
a hill at 80 mph in Syria, two weeks
in the Amazon with the Shuar Indians
(inventors of head
shrinking) and shooting rocket launchers
with the Cambodian Army.
His work has appeared in over 400
magazines, newspapers, books, web
sites, and includes National Geographic
magazine, the New York Times, the
Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune,
the Chicago Sun Times and USA Today.
Previously Mike ran several technology-related
